Keeping an active toddler well-fed and happy can be make or break on a day out, especially when you’re constantly on the move. Healthy snacks that are both portable and appealing can be a struggle at times, especially when you have a fuss pot on your hands.
We've compiled a range of nutritious and convenient snack ideas to make life easier when planning a day out!
Cheese, cracker and apple pot!
Ticking the boxes for sweet and savoury, this is a simple to put together idea that includes enough variety to satisfy the most refined of toddler palettes. Be sure to used a split snack pot to keep the apple's moisture from the crackers, to avoid them going soggy before snack time. You could choose to dice your cheese or add a classic pre-wrapped snack cheese, depending on preferences.
Homemade muffins
There are so many recipes for muffins around, that you can easily find one that suits both in flavour and cooking ability! The beauty of homemade muffins for toddlers and kids is that you can control the ingredients that go in yourself. Keep them low sugar, and sneak in some veggies where you can. We love to add grated carrot or mashed banana to recipes for a little boost of nutrients.
Fruit platter
Strawberries, peaches and grapes - oh my! Using the snack tray accessory you can put on a real good little spread for your littles to enjoy. Mix it up and if you do have a fussy eater you can sneak in some new foods alongside their safe ones to see if they will eat more variety when in a different environment
Trail Mix
Creating a trail mix from scratch can be a fantastic way to make the snack fun and also add some energy rich additions to the mix. Try whole-gran cereals with dried (toddler safe) fruit, alongside chocolate covered pretzels and yoghurt coated raisins! To make them even more enthusiastic about snack time you can get them involved in making it before you go.
